De 1937 à década de 80 foi importante na moda, como editora da Harper’s Bazaar e da Vogue, foi ela quem criou a coluna “Why don’t you…” na revista Harper’s Bazaar.

De 1962 a 71, enquanto editora chefe da Vogue americana, trouxe energia e juventude para a revista, com fotógrafos como Richard Avedon e Irving Penn. Depois da Vogue, foi consultora do Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art em Nova Iorque.
One of the most known fashion editors that fashion has ever seen, but in her own words “the one and only fashion editor”. From 1937 to the 80s she was very important to fashion, as editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, it was her who created the “Why don’t you…” column on Harper’s Bazaar magazine.
From 1962 to 71, while editor-in-chief of american Vogue, she brought energy and youth to the magazine, with photographers like Richard Avedon and Irving Penn. After Vogue, she worked as a consultant to the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
