Milan is preparing to welcome the 4th edition of the Lierac Beauty Run this Saturday 8th June. This is a special run, not just because it was the first one I’ve took part, but because it’s dedicated to women and their relatives and the running will take place at 9pm at the Arena Civica here in Milan, such a beautiful location! The event is organized by RCS Sports & Events – RCS Active Team with LIERAC, a cosmetic brand distributed exclusively in pharmacies and parapharmacy, always close to the female universe.

As last year, you can choose one of the two options for the run:

1) of 5 km for non-competitive cross the Parco Sempione

2) of 10 km for the competitive and non-competitive that will wind between the Brera area, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza Duomo, Cordusio, Cairoli with the Castello Sforzesco with the start and finish line always positioned at the Arena Civica.

The preparation and fun start early on the day, from 3.30 pm a series of activities will start at the Beauty Village that will accompany the participants throughout the afternoon before the run.

This year’s theme is Ready Shine Go (nothing more feminine, right?), it’s the new mood chosen by the LIERAC to express the spirit that accompanies many women: light up to reveal the best side of themselves!

Moving on to the day’s program, a special space will be provided at the LIERAC stand where beauty tips will be offered for the skin as well as the Lierac Sun Point, the solar oasis that will allow you to enjoy the benefits of the sun in complete safety, thanks to the Sunissime line. Moreover, to celebrate the theme of this edition, Ready Shine Go, a special glittery photo corner created in collaboration with Design by Gemini, and a tattoo station where you can get gadgets to shine in the most pink summer evening.

In the PHYTO Hair – Bar instead it will be possible to book a “shining” pre-run hairstyle. A moment entirely dedicated to well-being that will allow runners to prepare for the running in style!

NEW BALANCE, technical sponsor of the Lierac Beauty Run for the second consecutive year, has designed the beautiful t-shirt fort his new edition, in a female and male version!

In the GARMIN space you can discover the new GPS watches for the forerunner 45 and forerunner 245 race. These new devices measure the distance traveled and record the heart rate during running workouts. VEEPEE, the well-known e-commerce site dedicated to beauty, will create a Summer Oasis in which you can take a souvenir photo and where you will be offered fresh fruit juices and popsicles. Furthermore, special tattoos and a free yoga session, all dedicated to enjoy and relax before the run starts. There will be refreshing herbal teas and glittered cotton candy offered by TESCOMA, in addition to a series of surprises offered to adults and children.

To warm up the muscles before departure, or just for a relaxing massage at the end of the race, there will be a space dedicated to relaxation and well-being at 360 ° by LLOYDS FARMACIA which will involve Ecolife professional physiotherapists. The creation of the Kids Area is planned, organized by KIKOLLE LAB, where children from 1 to 10 can enjoy games, animations and many other surprises.

From 3:30pm on the stage, there will be many initiatives to entertain runners and a special warm-up signed by the trainers of the Audacious Gym.

One of the things that I love about this run is that, like last year, participants will have the opportunity to support individual projects by donating 5 euros of the participation fee to one of the five partner associations, which are Fondazione Umberto Veronesi, Dynamo Camp, DiversityLab, Fondazione Francesca Rava e Professional Women Network.

• INFO:
from 3.30 pm to 8.30 pm in the check-in area you can collect your run number.

Registration can be made online and at the Beauty Village on Saturday: 17 euros for online registration by 7 June and 20 euros for the registration at the Beauty Village on the day of the run.

5VIE for the Milano Design Week 2019

One of the world’s capital of fashion and design, Milan is a city full of events and one of the important one for who loves or works with architecture and design is the Salone del Mobile and the Milano Design Week in Milan (also known as Fuorisalone), that will be taking place this April, between 09/04 and 14/04.

For the 2019 Milano Design Week, the 5VIE, an integrated design district here in Milan is preparing a lot of interesting exhibitions and events. I’ve been present on the press conference a couple of days ago and here are the main attractions of the 5VIE for this Milan Design Week.

• 5VIE for the Milano Design Week 2019:

Milano Design Week 2019

The 2019 edition of 5VIE is bringing art+design and it embraces experimentation more openly than ever to cultivate an even more international presence. This year’s goal is to consolidate their reputation as a cultural reference point, bringing together plurality of thought and international heterogeneity.

Cristina Tajani, Councillor for Labor, Manufacturing, Fashion and Design Policy, explains that “the presentations and installations proposed by 5VIE help implement the Administration’s mission to spread the vitality and creativity of Design Week to every part of the city. We believe that the Fuorisalone represents not only a great opportunity for operators in the design sphere to get together and compare notes, but for the city to offer the possibility of approaching beauty and craftsmanship through the new creative languages of design, which are often contiguous with the long artisanal traditions specific to the various quarters of Milan. An opportunity to explore the world of design, which draws strength from the collaborative efforts of the Municipality of Milan and the operators in the various districts, united by the desire to promote the city under the banner of creativity and innovation.”.

Every year, 5VIE dedicates the Milano Design Week to a great master and for 2019 their guest of honor  will be Ugo La Pietra, an artist who established his reputation back in the late ‘50s and whose production has since explored an incredible variety of creative techniques. His exhibition is entitled Design Territoriale, Genius Loci.

• List of Events and Exhibitions of the 5VIE Milano Design Week 2019:

Here’s a list of exhibitions, attractions and events that will take part on the 5VIE district during the Milano Design Week 2019 edition. The list is divided according to where it will be taking place:

  • SANT’AMBROGIO e dintorni

– CARLO MASSOUD – THE FISH AND THE CROWD (curated by Maria Cristina Didero
)
Address: Oratorio della Passione, Piazza Sant’Ambrogio

Milano Design Week 2019: 5vie

The Fish and the Crowd is the first solo exhibition by the young Lebanese designer in Italy, and brings together a number of objects created since the designer started his studio in Beirut in 2013 until today, combined with a new production realized for the occasion.

Carlo Massoud is interested in translating the world surrounding him into every day and lively objects. For the 2019 edition of the Milan Design Week 2019, Carlo Massoud has reimagined the space of the Oratorio della Passione through a new collaboration with his sister Mary-Lynn with whom he has created a collaborative brand new project. In the space of this jewel church a number of objects play the role of an imaginary crowd, seated on benches. For The Fish and the Crowd Carlo and Mary-Lynn Massoud quote the classical icons of Christianity and its liturgies (the religion they also belong to) to involve the viewers in an intense and ironical reflection suspended between the physicality of the objects and the spiritual tension of the context.

–  ANTON ALVAREZ – L’ULTIMA CERA (curated by Nicolas Bellavance- Lecompte)
Address: Chiesa di San Bernardino alle Monache, via Lanzone 13

ANTON ALVAREZ for the Milano design week 2019

ANTON ALVAREZ | photo: Märta Thisner

The work of artist and designer Anton Alvarez is futuristic and primitive at the same time. With the exhibition L’Ultima Cera, Anton explores an ancient material in a new and innovative way: bronze. Commissioned by curator Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte and produced by 5VIE in collaboration with the Fonderia Artistica Battaglia in Milan as part of their new program of commissions and residencies, Alvarez adapts his machine, called ‘Extruder’, to work with wax. The extruder is a large metal cylinder hung from the ceiling by chains, using an electric motor to exert more than 2,000 kilos of pressure on the wax, pushing it through different moulds and cut-outs into a pool of cold water, where the artist uses his hands to give the wax its final form. When the wax is set, all the pieces are cast in bronze, each one-of-a- kind. Alvarez produces twelve pieces, this being the first time that an artist has approached bronze with such a technique.

– FORO STUDIO – RUG-O-RAMA

Address: International English Centre, Via Medici, 15

Foro Studio Alessandro Iovine Rugorama
FORO Studio + Alessandro Iovine present Rug-o-rama, a series of carpets in different materials intended as an homage to the city of Milan. With the ardor of a lover, the designers seek to capture the many identities of the metropolis, making its beauty their own, filtering it through the attentive eye of those whose work is dedicated to bringing the tangible closer to the intangible. The challenge is to transmit the power of a place to a furnishing element – a carpet in this case – where the physicality of the materials encounters the ephemeral nature of emotion and memory. The final product is therefore rooted in the territory, but at the same time free to tell multiple stories in multiple places. The concept involves the use of recycled materials from local industries and artisans in the furniture sector, with the aim of giving them new life, transforming them into unique objects. The carpets are hand-woven on a reticular support that ensures structural integrity. The exhibition will guide the viewer along a visionary and varied path in search of the right perspective from which to admire the many facets of Milan.

– DAVIDE GROPPI – SPAZIO ESPERIENZE

Address: Via Medici, 13
Light to see and feel people and space.
Light like a vision, but also like a feeling.
Light expressing mystery, deep reflection and seduction.

– LIZARD – ANA POPESCU

Address: Via Circo, 1
Lizard for Design Week 2019 presents a small selection of Ana Popescu’s acrylic paintings. Born in Romania, grew up in France and now lives in Vienna. Her work is a constant experiment trying to combine formal elements such as shape and color. She is mainly inspired by architecture – Bauhaus and socialist modernism. Each one of her projects tries to render simple scenes in something more complex.

Salone Del Mobile Milano 2018

Salone del Mobile Milano 2018

For those of you who love architecture and interior design, this year, again, I visited the Salone del Mobile Milano that happened here in Milan a while ago, I already had already published a video in portuguese on youtube channel (/manuluize) with the main trends from the decor fair.

To check the video of the Salone del Mobile 2018 here in Milan (it’s in portuguese, but you can still see all the decor and trends ;)), watch it here:

Lots of trends in architecture and decoration, a lot of technology or even some completely classic decoration (and sometimes even a little “exaggerated”), the Salone del Mobile Milano is a fair that happens annually here in Italy and is huge, with a lot of variety for all tastes and styles!

It takes a few days to visit a good part of the fair, after all is really a lot to see, so the highlights of the edition are on my video.

A trend that may be a little contradictory that I would like to highlight: the closets and cabinets in transparent glass, whether for closets, on bedroom or even in other parts of the house (like living room or even in the kitchen). I say contradictory, because personally I enjoyed it very much, but I’m still not sure if I would choose to have it at home (after all, in the case of the closet, it would have to be very well organized all the time!).

Salon du Chocolat Milano 2018

Over the last years, once a year, the Salon du Chocolat Milano makes Milan a sweeter city and a great place for those who love chocolate and cooking. I’ve been to the 2018 edition of the Salon du Chocolat here in Milan and I loved the experience, because I love cooking, specially sweets.

Salon du Chocolat Milano 2018

From 15th to 18th February, Milan hosted the Salon du Chocolat with so many events and brands exhibiting their amazing chocolates at the Salon. During the four days of the event, we had 47 showcooking events,  36 presentations, and more then 105 brands and degustations of chocolate and sweets.

• Salon du Chocolat Milano 2018:

Chocolates in Milan

It all started with the opening night on the 15th February and with a fashion show inspired by the king: the chocolate. The dresses always had a story behind it and they were created by fashion designers collaborating with chocolatiers and chefs, creating a very interesting final result.

Check some of the dresses that were in exhibition after the opening fashion show at the Salon du Chocolat Milano 2018:

I love cooking, so I checked many of the showcookings during the Salon du Chocolat and I definitely learned a lot from italian chocolatiers and chefs.

Nicolò Moschella Showcooking

Nicolò Moschella is a young pastry chef that I already heard about, because once I walking around Milan I ended up in a place called Just Love, it’s a coffee shop, but you can also have lunch there, as well as the famous italian aperitivo by the end f the day. The place is very cute and fashionable (I guess you now understand why I liked it.), but food is also great. I already tried from sandwiches to sweet croissants, tart, fish and even a veggie lasagna, all was always very good and with a nice ambience.

One of the brands I meet during the Salon du Chocolat here in Milan was Italianframe, a multisensorial shop opening here in Milan. I tried one of their cookies with a crystalized violet, it was such a good combination! Italianframe defines itself as a place where art, pastry and flowers meet, the end result could be just a great combination.

If you are around Milan around this time next year and you love chocolate and sweets, the Salon du Chocolat could be a great time to enjoy and appreciate good quality chocolate and sweets. Be it a program for italians, milanese or travelers.

Milan: Pasticceria Marchesi (Pastry Shop)

A must-see in Milan for those who love gastronomy and want to get to know one of the most famous and traditional pastry shops in Milan: the Pasticceria Marchesi. Created in 1824 and acquired by the Prada group, the pastry shop has now three addresses in the Italian city.
Pasticceria Marchesi in Milan

• Pasticceria Marchesi in Milan

Where to eat in Milan: Pasticceria Marchesi
A very traditional pastry shop in Milan, Pasticceria Marchesi was founded in 1824 and today it stands at the same address, being a historical pastry shop in Milan and even a symbol of the city. With so much tradition, as soon as I was around, I had to stop by at the traditional address to check it myself.

The pasticceria (Italian word for “pastry shop”) really began only with sweets and after 1900 also became a coffee shop. The traditional address on Via S. Maria alla Porta 11 / a, is the same since its opening and this address is more like a “fast coffee” kind of place with no place to sit or just to take something home / hotel (which by the way, when you take away, its wrapped in this lovely packaging of the beginning of this post).

Sweets in Milan: Pasticceria Marchesi

About the sweets from the Marchesi pastry shop: delicious! Marchesi really has the tradition it deserves, I went to visit the traditional address and tried some traditional sweets and I also couldn’t resist to take others for later. (Yes, I love sweets.)

About the prices, I would say it’s a very normal price, just so you can have an idea, the sweets on the photo above had a price by weight and they cost only € 5. (And they were delicious indeed.)

So, when thinking about where to eat in Milan, if you’re craving some sweets, stop by at one of Marchesi’s address.

• Pasticceria Marchesi Addresses:

Pasticceria Marchesi

• Traditional address: Via S. Maria alla Porta 11 / a, 20123 Milano (It does not open on Mondays).

• Second address: Via Monte Napoleone 9, 20121 Milano.

• Third Address: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

The second address is the new address opened in 2015, after the brand has been acquired by Prada. Unlike the traditional address, the new addresses have a space with tables and seats and a beautiful design chosen by Miuccia Prada herself.
