Do you want to get the most out of your sheet mask and not waste a single drop? You’re in the right place. In this post, I’m spilling the 7 best sheet mask hacks that’ll instantly upgrade your skincare routine. These aren’t just your average tips, they’re based on real experience, I worked for a sheet mask brand and got some secrets to share with you!
But first, let’s get one thing straight: sheet masks and regular face masks are not the same. While sheet masks are soaked in serum and perfect for hydration, face masks tend to be thicker and often clay- or cream-based. Both are amazing, but today, we’re diving deep into the world of serum-soaked, glow-boosting sheet masks.

1. Apply the Serum Before the Mask
Here’s a trick I picked up while working with a sheet mask brand: use the extra serum in the packaging on your skin before you even put the mask on. This helps your skin absorb more product right from the start and creates the perfect base for the mask to sit on.
2. Cut Your Mask to Make It Fit Better

Here’s a hack to bring you the best results: cut the mask to fit your face better, if it doesn’t fit you well. One of the benefits of a sheet mask is that it will stay in contact with your skin during the treatment, it will help the active ingredients to penetrate better into your skin. But for that, your mask must be fitted and touching your skin well.
3. Use a Roller on Top
Want your skin to soak up even more goodness? Use a facial roller or gua sha tool over your mask. It helps with absorption and gives your face a mini massage. Or if you have a device like the UFO by Foreo, you can also use it. Just be gentle, no dragging!
4. Use it on your neck or décolleté
After you finish using it on your face, fold the sheet mask in two and apply at the neck or décolleté area. After the indicated time, sheet masks usually still have a lot of serum to be used.
5. Don’t Waste the Extra Serum
There’s usually enough leftover serum in the packet to waste it. Use it on your elbows, arms, legs, wherever you need a hydration boost.
6. Chill It

You can put your sheet mask in the fridge for about 10 minutes before to using it. For a more refreshing and soothing sensation. The cool temperature can help to reduce inflammation and puffiness, making your skin look and feel more refreshed.
This is also great for any hot summer day!
7. Don’t Let It Dry Out on Your Skin
One of the biggest mistakes? Leaving your sheet mask on too long. Once it starts to dry out, it can actually pull moisture out of your skin. Set a timer according to the packaging instructions, most masks go from 15 to 20 minutes max, and remove it while it’s still damp.
Sheet masks are more than just a skincare trend, they’re a great way to treat your skin when used the right way. Try these hacks next time and you’ll notice the difference immediately. Whether you want a glow-up before an event or a mid-week self-care ritual, these tips will help you make the most of every sheet mask you use.
And you if you often get confused on how often to use a sheet mask: you can go from once a week to 5x/week, koreans even use it every day if it’s a moisturizing one. If you don’t want to loose track of your skincare, check my skincare planner here.
