Everyone deserves a home that’s beautiful and personalized to suit their unique needs and preferences. Beyond paint and flooring materials, you typically add decor to inject much-needed personality and life. However, if time restraints, mobility challenges, or mental limitations make it impractical to have a variety of decor, you must get creative with how you decorate your home. These tips may help:

Choose Rugs Wisely

If you normally access home care services, this may mean you need a helping hand with everyday living because you’re not confident in your mobility or daily activities. In that case, it’s crucial to choose rugs wisely for your home.

Rugs are a great way to inject warmth, character, and a pop of color, but they can also be a trip hazard. Choose short-pile rugs without distracting patterns and ensure they’re securely attached to the floor.

Opt for Easy-to-Clean Materials

Easy to care home decor

While you typically choose new decor or home comforts to tie in with your paint, wallpaper, and flooring, you should also consider how easy they are to care for. When there’s a risk of spills and stains in your home, you want to be sure that you’re not ruining your prized possessions with every accident. The easiest-care decorations and furnishings are those that wipe clean or have removable, washable covers.

Adopt a ‘Less is More’ Approach

As tempting as it can be to load up your side tables and dressers with photos, trinkets, and ornaments, this is far from easy to maintain for yourself or someone in charge of keeping your home orderly, tidy, and clean. Ornaments and decorations left on surfaces can become dust traps, and a great deal of time can be spent trying to keep them clean and aesthetically-pleasing.

Save time and effort by choosing a select few decorations to keep on display and storing the others somewhere safe. Every now and then, you may decide to rotate your ornaments and decor to keep your display fresh.

Buy Simple and Functional Furniture

Not all furniture is designed to be practical, user-friendly, and easy-care. Fortunately, such pieces do exist. Choose furniture with clean lines and raised legs, which have fewer nooks for dust to gather and are easier to vacuum under. You might also choose multifunctional pieces like storage ottomans, which can keep everyday essentials within easy reach.

Use Your Walls

If you’re far from a minimalist and are determined to inject as much life and vibrancy into your home as possible, focus on the walls. Hang family photos and art you love on the walls, and create gallery walls to bring all your favorites together. The more art and decorations you hang on your walls, the less you have positioned around your home that are trip hazards or require dusting.

Group Decor On Trays for Easy Cleaning

When you love seeing all your favorite trinkets every day, the thought of hiding them away in a box can be too much to bear. In that case, get creative with how you display them. Group them on trays so that they can be easily removed and cleaned.

You can have decor and an easy-care, low-maintenance home. It just takes creative thinking. Be mindful of your rug choices for safety, streamline your possessions to save time and enhance safety, and prioritize simple, functional furniture.
